Tönisvorst
The town of Tönisvorst is located on the Lower Rhine in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a medium-sized town in the Viersen district in the Düsseldorf administrative district. It consists of the two originally independent main towns of St. Tönis and Vorst - the latter being the largest district in terms of area, but housing less than a quarter of the residents - as well as the Laschenhütte and Kehn settlements.
With 29,306 inhabitants (as of December 2018) it is the fifth largest city in the Viersen district. The city has existed in its current boundaries since 1970, when, as part of the local reorganization, it was decided to combine the four current districts from the individual communities that previously belonged to the Kempen-Krefeld district to form Tönisvorst, which received city rights in 1979.
Laakdal
Laakdal is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 16,101 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is located south of the Albert Canal and consists of the districts of Eindhout, Varendonk, Veerle and Vorst.
Turnhout is about 26 kilometers north, Antwerp 45 kilometers northwest and Brussels about 52 kilometers southwest.
The next motorway exits are at Geel and Ham on the A13 / E 313.
The nearest regional train stations are in Herentals, Geel, Diest and Aarschot.
Antwerp Airport is the nearest regional airport and Brussels National Airport near the capital is of international importance.
Frost
Vorst was an independent municipality until December 31, 1969. On January 1, 1970, the new municipality of Tönisvorst (with the main town of St. Tönis), which received city rights in 1979, was essentially created by amalgamating with the neighboring municipality of St. Tönis.

The village of Vorst, to which the hamlet of Meerlaar also belongs, extends over an area of 15.49 km² and had 6368 inhabitants on January 1, 2006.
