Since 2006...

... Tönisvorst has a town partnership with Laakdal, or to be more precise, Vorst (Tönisvorst) with Vorst (Laakdal), which is located in Belgian Flanders, in the Kempener Land.

How did this partnership come about in 2006?

As early as the 1980s, Vorst wanted to establish a partnership between Vorst - Vorst,

which, however, failed due to lack of interest in the city and a lack of idealism on the part of the Vorster citizens.

Now, at the beginning of the new century, Kunibert Schmitz has a postcard in hand that read:

"Vorst im Kempener Land"

Since Kunibert Schmitz († Oct. 2014) also worked for the home club Vorst, he immediately noticed that this card is not our Vorst. He began to research and quickly found out that he was referring to the Belgian Vorst, the Vorst with whom he had already made contact 25 years earlier. Together with the Heimatverein, they immediately began to revive these contacts and the "Association Committee" was founded for the purpose of support. The purpose of the committee should be to promote a partnership with Belgium (Vorst / Laakdal - Vorst / Tönisvorst) and at the same time the Bringing clubs back to one table. Together with the associations, they wanted to create a lively partnership and live it with the citizens of Tönisvrst, and so it happened.
